El Paseo de Saratoga Redevelopment Environmental lmpact Report (EIR) Released
Last Friday, the City of San Jose published the EIR for the El Paseo project. This began the 45-day period for the public to view the analysis of the proposed project’s environmental impacts. Comments on the EIR are due to the City by November 29.
The Moreland West NA plans to submit comments. We encourage residents to submit individual comments to the City and request that you copy us. We also invite residents to send any questions or comments to morelandwestna@gmail.com by Monday, Nov. 5, so they can be considered/included in the Moreland West NA’s submission. We’ll give a brief update on this topic at our Nov. 18 meeting.

Costco Coming to Westgate West
From Vice Mayor Jones’s office: The northwest corner of Westgate West has caught the attention of Costco Wholesale. They plan to submit a proposal for an urban warehouse center in early November. The Costco would replace the old Orchard Supply Hardware building, the current Ethan Allen, Goodwill, Smart & Final building among others. The building would be just over 160,000 square feet. This area has been vacant for quite some time, so we are interested in seeing the area revitalized and anticipate a robust community engagement process prior to any formal plan approval. If you have input, comments, or questions, please contact the District 1 office at district1@sanjoseca.gov.
