May 27 Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone who attended our most recent meeting. Our agenda was packed and we covered so much. Here are a few highlights:

Special Meeting June 3 from 6:30-8:30 we have asked the development team for the El Paseo project to present their latest proposal, which is currently undergoing the environmental impact review process with the city of San Jose. We will also talk about the new Opportunity Housing rules and what that might mean for our neighborhood.

Saturday June 12 from 9 -11 there will be an ”Open Garden” open house at the Moreland Community Garden, with guided tours of the space. Come meet the gardeners and learn about this great community resource.

Randall Studstill from the West Valley Branch of the San Jose Library gave us an overview of the amazing programs available now. Our local branch is open for browsing and self-checkout. While programming is on-line for the most part, there will be some in-person services available, including computer access for printing up to 10 pages, grab-and-go lunches, and free books for kids and teens enrolled in the summer reading program. Go to https://sjpl.bibliocommons.com to find out more about the amazing events, services, and special programs. View Randall’s full slide deck here:

Karina Domingues from the SJPD Crime Prevention department gave an informative presentation on home safety and the Neighborhood Watch program.

Our neighborhood safety and emergency preparedness chair Cyrus Shahriari gave us an overview of some of the products and options that are available to make our own properties more secure. You can download his slides here:
