The owner of the El Paseo de Saratoga shopping center is planning to develop a portion of the property as a “Signature” project under San Jose planning rules. They are considering two proposals aimed at replacing outdated large retail space with a higher density mix of residential, commercial and retail that will activate the space both day and night.
We encourage all residents of Moreland West to attend this meeting. Beforehand, please visit the project website: elpaseotogether.com. At the meeting, the developer will provide project background, present two proposals, and solicit input from the community. Also, you can prepare by reviewing San Jose’s Envision San Jose 2040 at: https://www.sanjoseca.gov/index.aspx?nid=1737. (The General Plan is 504 pages; pay special attention to the pages on Urban Villages and “Signature” projects — CH 4, p 22).
